How One Step Prop Firm Challenges Work
One-step prop firm challenges require traders to complete a trading challenge to get funded. Thus, when you begin such a challenge, you are one step away from your goal of earning a funded trading account.
Participating in one-step prop firm challenges can be highly rewarding since traders have the potential to withdraw profits they make with the funded trading account, making it a lucrative opportunity.
- The profits made during the challenge, also known as the evaluation period, are not eligible for withdrawal.
- Once you trade a funded account, you can withdraw the profits based on the profit split terms of the account you trade.

Best Price – Value – Ratio
One-step challenges have the best ratio between the monthly participation costs and the account size of the funded account relative to the chance of successfully completing the challenge.
Alternatives
There are multiple prop firm challenge types. Alternatives to one-step challenges are instant funding accounts, two-step challenges and rarely still existing three-step challenges.
While an instant-funded account may seem appealing at first glance, the reality is that the account size, which can then be traded relative to the entry fee, is unfavorable. A regular futures trading account is typically the better alternative to the instant-funded account with a futures prop firm since the minimum deposit with retail futures trading accounts starts at $500.
The two-step evaluation and challenge come at a lower price than the one-step challenge, but it requires completing two challenges in order to get funded. The savings on the participation fee are typically not worth it since the chances of completing two challenges are statistically lower than the one-step challenge. At the same time, the costs for participation in such a challenge are not that significantly lower, so it would be worth considering.
Three-step challenges only rarely exist these days. As the name suggests, you must complete three evaluation steps to earn a funded account, which is statistically more difficult to succeed with.
